The EU will announce its final decision on the Waste Shipment Regulation on 17 November. Although the EU is expected to ban all steel scrap exports from this date, some market participants have different views on how much it will affect scrap exports.
EuRIC President Cinzia Vezzosi believes that any restrictions on export activities should be implemented gradually and explains that the EU does not seem to have the industrial strength to swallow all scrap exports at the moment.
The data showed that the EU is still the world's largest exporter of scrap steel. Turkey is considered to be the country most affected when the scrap steel export ban actually comes in the future.
