According to data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), production decreased by 3.3 percent compared to the previous month to 7 million 238.5 thousand tonnes.
Production of hot-rolled steel products decreased by 9.6 percent m-o-m and 7.4 percent y-o-y to 6 million 212.3 thousand tonnes. Pig iron production decreased by 3.2 percent m-o-m and 2.5 percent y-o-y to 5 million 191.8 thousand tonnes.
Electric arc furnace production increased by 0.4 percent m-o-m and decreased by 2.4 percent y-o-y to 1 million 964.5 thousand tonnes.
