CRC and HDG prices have been low in Europe due to weak demand, high energy costs, and competitive imports.
According to SteelRadar sources, CRC prices in Southern Europe were €15-20 lower compared to the previous week at €810-825 EXW per tonne.
Competitive offers from overseas suppliers are also another factor behind the low European prices. CRC prices for April delivery from South Korea and Taiwan were reported at €740-750 per tonne CFR to Southern Europe.
It was reported that imports had less impact on HDG prices as overseas suppliers were unable to meet all size and quality standards required by European buyers, while weak demand was cited as the main factor behind the low prices.
February HDG prices were recorded at €845-855 EXW, down €15 per ton compared to the previous week.
