Cleveland-Cliffs establishes hot-rolled steel base price at $1,100 per net ton

Cleveland-Cliffs, whose primary end market is the automotive industry, is currently charging a minimum of $1,100 per net ton for its spot market base price on all hot-rolled steel products. These products are produced in large quantities at the integrated steel mills located in the Calumet Region along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Cleveland-Cliffs establishes hot-rolled steel base price at $1,100 per net ton

Cleveland-Cliffs has increased steel prices three times since the United Auto Workers' strike ended, this time because its largest customers are now back in the saddle.

Among its biggest clients are domestic automakers, making the Ohio-based steelmaker one of the largest industrial companies in the Region. Orders for integrated steelmakers like Cleveland-Cliffs and U.S. Steel were temporarily hampered when the UAW went on strike for more than 40 days at dozens of locations across the country, including the Chicago Assembly Plant, in protest of lower pay and less job security in the face of the transition to electric vehicles.
