Scrap export prices from Benelux to Turkey were reported to have decreased, while trade activity in Asia was also low but some deals were reported to have been made.
Daily price assessments for HMS 1&2 (75:25) and HMS 1&2 (80:20) showed a decrease in prices compared to the previous year due to regularized freight costs.
Pakistan's UK/EU scrap prices are also reported to have increased compared to last week and to be selling at certain levels in the scrap trade in countries such as Pakistan and India.
According to source assessments, European export prices are not expected to change significantly in the short term, but the scrap shortages are expected to offset the weaker demand from Turkish and Asian buyers, leading to significant price movements. However, there is no clear view on whether prices will continue to rise or start to drop.
