In the project, which also received the support of the French government, it is planned to establish a production unit at the Mardyck plant in the north of France. It is said that this investment will create more than 100 direct jobs.
With the new production unit to be established at ArcelorMittal's existing facility in Mardyck, electric motors, including industrial machines, and electrical steel for use in both electric and hybrid vehicles will be produced.
The new production unit, which will have a production capacity of 200 thousand tons, is planned to be operational in 2024. In particular, it is in question that France will strengthen the electric vehicle sector existing in Hauts de France and Dunkirk.
In the project supported by the French government within the scope of 2030, this investment in electric vehicle technology, through the electrical steel to be produced by ArcelorMittal, aims to reduce the CO2 emissions arising from the production of not only France but also the European Union in the automotive industry, and to reach their targets for being carbon neutral in 2050.
