The protocol prepared for the expansion of the production capacity of the Bellara Iron and Steel Factory, which was established in partnership with Algeria and Qatar, was signed at a ceremony.
According to the news on the Algerian official radio, a signing ceremony was held in Doha as part of the Algerian President Abdulemcid Tebbun's visit to Qatar.
The giant facility, known as the Bellara Steel Complex, is located in the al-Miliye region of the Jijal province in the east of the country.
The factory, whose current production capacity is 2 million tons per year, is planned to produce 4 million tons per year.
Bellara Iron and Steel Factory, 51 percent of which belongs to Groupe Industrial Sider from Algeria and 49 percent to Qatar Steel from Qatar, started to be established in 2015 with an investment of 2 billion dollars, and reached the first production stage in 2017.
Qatar Steel Chairman of the Board of Directors Khalid bin Hamed al-Ubeydli and Algerian Ambassador to Doha Mustafa Buturra signed the protocol.
Algerian Minister of Energy Muhammed Arkab and Minister of Industry and Trade of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Kasım Al Sani were also present at the protocol signing ceremony.
