PERTH, Australia – Key issues facing the global mining industry, including geopolitical uncertainty, critical mineral supply, the energy transition, and digitalization, will be discussed at the Future of Mining Australia and MiningNews Select conferences, scheduled to take place in Perth on June 16–17, 2026.
Held concurrently at Crown Perth, the events will bring together mining industry decision-makers, technology providers, investors, and government representatives. More than 2,000 industry professionals, over 500 senior executives, and more than 100 speakers are expected to participate.
Lindsay Santos, Group Events Director at Aspermont, the organizer of the event, stated that in today’s geopolitical and economic environment, there is a greater need than ever for platforms that support strategic decision-making among industry leaders.
Four Key Themes Take Center Stage
The 2026 program is structured around four core themes reflecting the mining industry’s current priorities:
- Technology and Innovation
- Energy Transition
- Sustainability
- Future Workforce, Skills, and Safety
The conference will feature sessions covering a broad range of topics, from digital transformation and critical minerals to artificial intelligence applications and sustainable mining strategies.
Critical Minerals and Geopolitics in Focus
One of the highlights of the program will focus on critical minerals that are strategically important for both the defense industry and the energy transition. Global supply security for key raw materials such as antimony, tin, tungsten, and rare earth elements, along with the policies of G7 countries and the role of BRICS nations in processing capacity, will be examined in detail.
Smart Mining and Connected Automation Technologies
Digitalization and automation in mining will also be among the event’s main discussion topics. Experts will explore data-driven operational management, equipment reliability, asset management, and the value created by integrated digital systems throughout the mining value chain.
Global Investment and Regulatory Frameworks to Be Discussed
Government representatives and industry experts from major mining countries including Canada, Chile, Indonesia, Malaysia, Peru, Sweden, and the United Kingdom will share the latest developments regarding investment incentives, mining policies, and exploration activities.
Start-Up Pitch Battle and Leaders Roundtable
As part of the event, the “Start-Up Pitch Battle” will connect innovative mining technology startups with investors and industry leaders. Winners will be selected through a combination of jury evaluation and participant voting.
The “Leaders Roundtable,” organized in partnership with Frost & Sullivan, will bring together senior executives to discuss key industry priorities such as productivity, artificial intelligence applications, and supply chain risks.
Gen-Z Spotlight to Support Future Industry Leaders
The workforce-focused section of the conference will feature the “Gen-Z Spotlight” program, designed to address the talent gap within the mining industry. The sessions will bring together young professionals and experienced industry leaders, creating opportunities for knowledge sharing and career development.
Future of Mining Australia and MiningNews Select 2026 will be supported editorially by Aspermont’s established industry publications, including Mining Magazine, Australia’s Mining Monthly, MiningNews.net, and Energy News Bulletin.
By addressing technologies that will shape the future of mining, critical minerals, sustainability practices, and investment opportunities, the event is set to place Perth at the center of the global mining agenda this June.
