Flat steel shipments to Russian pipe plants stabilized in June 2025

According to data from Metals & Mining Intelligence, shipments of flat rolled steel to welded pipe producers in Russia remained stable in June 2025, totaling 244,000 tons—matching the volume delivered in May. However, on a year-on-year basis, deliveries fell by 32%.

Of the total June shipments, 211,000 tons came from domestic Russian steelmakers, while imports accounted for 33,000 tons.

In the first half of 2025, total flat steel shipments to pipe manufacturers reached 1.535 million tons, marking a 25% decline compared to the same period last year.

Specifically, deliveries of flat steel for large-diameter pipe (LDP) production amounted to 378,000 tons—down 21% year-on-year. Shipments for small and medium-diameter (SMD) pipe production reached 959,000 tons, showing a steeper drop of 27% compared to the previous year.

The top consumers in the first half of 2025 were Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant (ChTPZ), Novosibirsk Metallurgical Plant named after Kuzmin (NMZ im. Kuzmina), and NTZ TEM-PO. A year earlier, the leading buyers included ChTPZ, NMZ im. Kuzmina, and Zagorsky Pipe Plant.
