According to Iranian news sources, the CEO of Esfahan Steel Company (ESCO) announced the trial production of Sorel pig iron for the first time in Iran. This type of pig iron, used in the production of ductile (SG) cast iron, was previously only produced in small workshops. However, it has now been industrially and experimentally produced at ESCO through the collaboration of technical units such as the blast furnace, steelmaking, and refractory departments, and will soon be officially unveiled.
He also reported the production of lightweight, portable granulated pig iron, designed for use in electric arc furnaces, which offers advantages such as reduced electrode consumption and faster melting.
Additionally, he highlighted progress in the production of round billets, UPN 20 channels, and national railway rails, emphasizing the key role that Esfahan Steel Company plays in job creation and the development of Iran's steel industry.
