England individual borrowing £1.2bn

Consumer credit and credit card borrowing of UK consumers hit a 16-month high of £1.2bn in November 2021, the BoE reported.

England individual borrowing £1.2bn

Although it is seen that individual borrowing has increased in the UK, experts say that this is done with the effect of the Christmas holiday, indicating that the problem will not be repeated in other months.

According to the Bank of England (BoE) data, consumer loans and credit card borrowing in the country increased by 6.4 percent in November to 1.2 billion pounds, the highest level in the last 16 months.

Net housing loan borrowing of consumers in England, which was at the level of 1 billion pounds in October, increased to 3.7 billion pounds.

Economists had expected that household borrowing in the country would reach £800m in November.

Experts stated that the increase in household debt in the country above the expectations in November was due to the fact that consumers started to do their Christmas shopping earlier than usual.
