Stagnant demand for rebar has greatly affected the Southern European rebar sector and markets. Prices for rebar from Italy were €765-840 ($833-915) per ton, down by since the previous week, from €810-860 to €20-45 per ton.
According to the data, one of the biggest reasons for the wait-and-see attitude of customers is their belief that prices may decrease with weak demand during the winter period. However, it is also possible for producers to demand higher prices.
Prices for rebar delivered to Spain were €765-785 per ton. The fact that imports have competitive prices may weaken the appetite for local shares in the Spanish market. Factories may charge higher prices due to increasing input costs, but the market is not ready for that.
