2012 yılının ilk 8 ayında 182.2 milyar TL'ye ulaşan vergi gelirlerinin yüzde 45'i İstanbul'da tahsil edildi.Yılın ilk 8 ayında İstanbul, Kocaeli, İzmir ve Ankara'da gerçekleştirilen vergi tahsilâtı toplamı 144 milyar 589 milyon TL'ye ulaştı. Böylece Türkiye genelinde tahsil edilen her 100 TL'lik verginin yaklaşık 80 TL'si İstanbul, Kocaeli, İzmir ve Ankara'dan toplandı.
