BHP Group is advocating for the lifting of Australia's ban on nuclear power

BHP Group, a prominent global mining company, is urging the Australian government to lift the prohibition on nuclear power, citing the nation's dedication to reducing carbon emissions from its power generation facilities.

Laura Tyler, the Chief Technical Officer of BHP, emphasized the importance of integrating nuclear energy with wind, solar, batteries, and other energy sources to ensure a secure and dependable mix of power. BHP has set a goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050; however, a prior report highlighted the possibility of a temporary increase in the company's carbon emissions.
