The agreement involves an investment of $50 million for the establishment of a steel plant at Mirsharai in Chattogram District.
The loan will be allocated for the implementation of various facilities, including solar power generation systems, air pollutant control mechanisms, water treatment and recycling facilities as complementary components of the steel mill.
These additions will help the steel industry in Bangladesh to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, the commissioning of this environmentally sustainable steel plant will contribute to increasing Bangladesh's steel production capacity.
