The Central Bank of Russia has postponed the start of operations on the foreign exchange market, while temporarily prohibiting the sale of Russian securities on behalf of foreign customers.

Ban on sale of Russian securities following sanctions

In a written statement, the Central Bank of Russia announced that the transactions in the foreign exchange market, which should start at 07:00 due to the sanctions of Western countries, will start at 10:00.

In the statement, it was stated that the sale of Russian securities on behalf of foreign customers in transactions in the Russian market was also temporarily suspended.

The United States and the European Union announced that due to Russia's attack on Ukraine, the Russian Central Bank's reserves of approximately 300 billion dollars in the said countries were frozen.

In addition, while sanctions were imposed on many Russian banks, it was decided to close the European Union airspace to Russian planes.
