ArcelorMittal continues to buy scrap processing plant

ArcelorMittal has announced that it will continue to purchase scrap metal processing plants in Europe to improve the supply of raw materials, which will increase demand in the long run.

ArcelorMittal continues to buy scrap processing plant

In May this year, the company announced that it has purchased ten scrap processing plants with a total annual capacity of approximately 400,000 tons from German company Alba International Recycling. The company has made its second such acquisition of the same type this year. In March ArcelorMittal acquired John Lawrie Metals, one of Scotland's largest scrap metal suppliers.

ArcelorMittal said it plans to use more scrap in BOF steelmaking. In the future, electric arc furnaces that require raw materials will be installed in European metallurgical plants. In this way, the company aims to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 35% by 2030.
