Steel prices across the Americas started the week with a stable-to-positive outlook. In the United States, hot-rolled coil prices remained at $1,000/st DDP Houston, while offers from some southern mills reached as high as $1,150/st EXW. Galvanized products and plate prices also maintained elevated levels, reflecting the continued strength of the flat steel market.
In the long products segment, rebar prices in the U.S. Midwest averaged $927/st ex-mill, while prices in the Houston region were reported between $880-945/st. Pig iron prices stood at $530/mt CIF New Orleans.
In Latin America, wire rod prices were assessed at $685/mt FOB, while billet prices were reported at $510/mt FOB. In the Mexican domestic market, HRC prices remained stable at $945/mt, CRC prices at $1,095/mt, and rebar prices at $875/mt DAP.
In Brazil, HRC prices were reported at $792/mt EXW, while slab export prices stood at $580/mt FOB. Brazilian pig iron prices at $497/mt indicate that the country continues to maintain a competitive position in the semi-finished steel and raw materials export markets.
Overall, strong flat steel prices in the United States continue to set the tone for the steel market across the Americas, while more competitive pricing levels in Latin America and Brazil are supporting export market activity.
