Acciai Speciali Terni (AST) will temporarily stop production

Italian steel mill Acciai Speciali Terni (AST) will stop production for more than a month from 19 July to 23 August 2023. The dates were originally set for the first two weeks of August for planned maintenance. Due to high electricity prices, low demand and generally not very favourable market conditions, these dates had to be extended.

About AST;

The AST plant is the only integrated stainless steel producer in Italy. Its production capacity amounts to 1.3 million tonnes of steel per year. Approximately 70% of the production volume consists of stainless steel grades. The plant came under the control of Arvedi, which acquired these assets from the German ThyssenKrupp in 2022.
