At the beginning of last week, US OCTG pipe exports increased in January this year. It increased by 13.7% m-o-m and 27.3% y-o-y to 1,900 tons.
U.S. imports of steel products for February resulted in a decrease
U.S. steel imports decreased by 13.5% y-o-y to 4.86 million tons in February, decreased by 13.5% from the previous month.
Galvanized steel imports decreased by 17% m-o-m and 27% y-o-y in February to about 306,000 tons.
Slab imports increased y-o-y
In February, U.S. slab imports decreased by 2% m-o-m, but increased by 4% y-o-y to about 206,400 tons. The value of imports made in this period was at the level of 170 million US dollars.
Crude steel production closed the week with a decrease
U.S. crude steel production decreased by 0.4% on a weekly basis and 1.8% y-o-y to 1,686 tonnes.
US announces AD and CVD results
The U.S. Department of Commerce (USDOC) has announced the final results of its anti-dumping duty inspections of OCTG pipe imported from Ukraine. Presidential Interpipe Europa S.A. set the weighted average dumping margin for Interpipe Ukraine LLC, PJSC Interpipe Niznedneprovsky Tube Rolling Plant and LLC Interpipe Niko Tube at 1.55%. The antidumping duty is reported to be effective from March 23, 2023.
Following the end-of-period review of the compensatory duty imposed on wire rods imported from Italy, the United States announced that it would continue to apply compensatory duties.
