Germany
In the generally stagnant European market, rebar has shown no significant changes. This trend continued in Germany as well, with rebar at the 12-32mm range maintaining a price of 615 EUR for two weeks, closing the week of June 24 with a 5 EUR increase at 620 EUR.
In the region, only the flat product group is expected to experience slight changes this week. The 14-40mm steel plate followed a similar trend with rebar, ending the week at 640 EUR, marking a recorded increase of 15 EUR. While the 14-40mm steel plate increased by 15 EUR, [EN 10025] concluded the week with a 10 EUR decrease.
Italy
The Italian HRC market showed a decrease. During the week of June 24, Italian HRC prices remained stable at 635 EUR, while CRC prices also remained stable at 750 EUR.
Although there was some movement in the Italian construction sector in the past weeks, in the week of June 24, rebar prices decreased by 10 EUR, reaching 630 EUR. This decrease highlighted that the sector had begun to stabilize during this period.
In recent weeks, galvanized steel coil prices, which had been on the rise, increased by 6 EUR during the week of June 24, reaching 856 EUR. Italy's plate stocks are in good status, with new orders expected to be delivered at the beginning of July.
While steel plate prices in Italy remained stable at 690 EUR in recent weeks, the week of June 24 saw a 20 EUR decrease, bringing the price to 670 EUR. Angle prices also maintained their long-term level at 710 EUR.
German E40 scrap steel prices increased by 2 EUR, closing the week at 370 EUR, while a significant decline was observed in Italian E3 scrap steel prices. Prices, which had been rising since May, saw a 13 EUR decrease last week and continued to be traded at 370 EUR during the week of June 24.
Spain
According to SteelRadar data, during the week of June 24, Spain's HRC prices remained stable at 645 EUR, while CRC prices held steady at 800 EUR.
While it was noted that weak demand and increased competition had caused a decline in rebar prices in recent weeks in Spain, during the week of June 24, Spanish rebar prices increased by 17 EUR, rising to 595 EUR. Sources predict that this increase will continue in the coming weeks due to more project developments.
In recent weeks, the European Union's extension of protective measures on the steel market has continued to reshape the industry dynamics.
Poland
In Poland, where there were small price changes in rebar across Europe, the 12-32mm rebar previously trending upward, experienced a 5 EUR decrease, landing at 615 EUR. Meanwhile, the 5.5-10mm rod increased by 13 EUR, staying competitive at 688 EUR.
Similarly, in Italy, A510 grade wire rod started trading at 655 EUR with a slight increase.
Netherlands
Rumors suggest that a shortage of scrap in Europe is causing prices to continue rising. HMS 1/2, which started June at 350 USD, fluctuated throughout the month and as of now is being traded at 363 USD. Holland recorded the highest level this month, while it is anticipated that prices will continue to rise in the coming months.
UK
In the previous month, wire mesh prices, which had recorded declines, continued to fluctuate in the UK, entering June at 572 USD after the drops.
Despite being unable to maintain stability until the second week of the month, steel mesh exhibited an upward trend from the second week onward, recording its highest level on June 18 at 577 USD. Due to the prevailing market stagnation in the UK, producers continued to lower prices as there were issues with demand; however, according to SteelRadar data, steel mesh prices in the UK reached their highest level of the month at 578.50 USD on June 26.
