Vesuvius published 2025 sustainability report

Vesuvius plc published its 2025 Sustainability Report, announcing its performance for the 2020–2025 period and new sustainability targets in areas such as environmental impact, occupational safety, innovation, and corporate development. The report was released to the public on 9 April 2026.

Vesuvius published 2025 sustainability report

The company stated that most of the targets set in line with its “creating a better tomorrow” vision have been achieved or exceeded.

Strong reduction in emissions and use of clean energy

Vesuvius reduced its pro forma CO₂ emission intensity by 31.4% since 2020, surpassing its 2025 target of 20%. It was reported that 89% of the electricity used across its global facilities comes from carbon-free sources (renewable and nuclear). In addition, the company announced that its Rio de Janeiro facility in Brazil has switched to biomethane, becoming the group’s third carbon-neutral site.

Significant improvement in occupational safety

The Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR), a key health and safety indicator, decreased by more than 50% since 2020, reaching 0.7 in 2025. While continuing to strengthen its “zero accident” approach, the company stated that 12 regions were recognized for outstanding safety performance.

Focus on innovation and low-carbon products

Vesuvius reported that it continues to support its customers’ decarbonization efforts through technologies that contribute to emission reductions. Solutions such as DuraSleeve™ and Anteris 360™ enabled customers to save thousands of tons of CO₂ annually, while 56% of new product development projects in 2025 focused on sustainable products.

The company also announced its updated Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) targets for 2025–2030. These include a 45% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emission intensity by 2030, achieving 100% carbon-free electricity across all facilities, and reducing waste through circular economy practices.

New performance indicators and sustainable supply chain

In addition, new key performance indicators (KPIs) will be introduced in areas such as product quality, customer satisfaction, employee engagement, data security, and sustainable supply chain management. The company stated that these KPIs will be included in annual reporting starting from 2026.
