According to data released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), shipments from U.S. steel mills increased by 6.2% year-on-year in March 2026, reaching 8,204,611 net tons. In March of last year, this figure stood at 7,725,314 net tons.
March shipments also increased by 10.9% compared to February 2026, when shipments totaled 7,395,507 net tons.
In the first three months of the year, total shipments reached 23,183,944 net tons, marking a 4.4% increase compared to the same period of 2025.
Looking at product categories, shipments of corrosion-resistant sheet and strip increased by 13% year-on-year in the first three months of 2026, while shipments of hot-rolled sheet and strip rose by 4%. In contrast, shipments of cold-rolled sheet and strip declined by 6%.
