According to a report released on Monday, the investment is expected to generate approximately $1.7 billion in economic benefits for the state of Pennsylvania.
The report noted that the economic impact extends beyond the value of the investment itself and includes wages, construction activities, and supply chain expenditures. As a result, the project is expected to stimulate broader regional economic activity.
Under the proposed plan, approximately 3,000 existing jobs at the Mon Valley Works facilities are expected to be retained. In addition, the project is projected to support around 3,200 indirect and induced jobs over a three-year period.
The company also estimates that the improvement program could contribute up to $58 million in state and local tax revenues through its economic activity and investment-related spending.
