US Navy preparing to escort oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz

U.S. President Donald Trump said that the U.S. Navy may soon begin escorting oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

US Navy preparing to escort oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz

Departing from Washington, D.C. for a weekend trip to Florida, U.S. President Donald Trump answered questions from journalists at the airport. Commenting on developments in the Middle East, Trump said the U.S. Navy plans to begin accompanying tanker transits through the Strait of Hormuz in the near future, though he did not provide a specific date for when the practice would begin.

Responding to a question about whether Israel shares the same view as the United States regarding ending attacks against Iran, Trump said the two countries may make different assessments. “In the end, we are different countries,” he said.

The U.S. president also addressed the question of when attacks targeting Iran might end, stating that he would not share a definite timetable. He said he has a timeframe in mind but added that operations could continue as long as deemed necessary.

Trump argued that the planned process has progressed faster than expected, claiming that Iran’s military capacity has been significantly weakened. “Iran is currently in a very difficult situation,” he said.
