U.S. line pipe imports rise 27%

US witnessed a substantial uptick in line pipe imports in October, totaling around 70,800 tons. This marked a significant 27% increase compared to the previous month, although it also reflected a 7.5% decrease from the same period the previous year.

South Korea emerged as the primary contributor to this surge, leading the import charts with 22,800 tons. However, this figure represented an 18.1% drop from the preceding month and a noteworthy 35.4% year-on-year decline.

Other noteworthy sources of line pipe imports included Vietnam, contributing 7,300 tons, and India, with 7,000 tons imported during the same period.

The overall import value for these line pipes amounted to approximately US$103 million. This figure reflects a notable 20.5% increase on a month-to-month basis. Despite the monthly uptick, there was a significant 21.4% decrease in import value compared to the same period in the previous year.
