Ukrainian steel producers are suspending their production due to the military action initiated by Russia

Ukrainian steel producers are suspending their production!

As of today, Russia has hit most of the country's civil and military airports, military bases and strategic points in the wide-ranging military operation it has launched against Ukraine.

In addition to the direct threats of loss of life, major industries such as transport and logistics systems and steel were also threatened. In addition, some manufacturers have begun to announce that they are suspending their production or that they will significantly reduce their production.

ArcelorMittal announced that it has decided to minimize its activities in the country and to suspend its activities in underground mines. A subsidiary of the company, Kryviy Rih is known as Ukraine's largest steel producer and one of the main exporters of billets and long products.

Ukrainian pipe producer Interpipe has announced that it has decided to temporarily cease operations. The company has ceased production at its assets in the Dnipro region. "Operations will return to normal once it is clear how logistics processes will work," the official statement said. On the other hand, the company said that it will continue to make salary payments.

While Metinvest did not make a statement regarding its production activities, it stated that its logistics activities will continue as usual. However, steel market players expect some production cuts as the company's key facilities are located in the Mariupol region, which is under attack by Russian troops.
