Ukraine's crude steel production decreased by 84.7% in January compared to the same period in 2022 due to the war between Russia and Ukraine to about 284,000 tons.
The war also caused the disruption of the logistical chain. The two main steel mills owned by Metinvest, the Azovstal and Ilyich Iron and Steel Mills, were demolished.
Missile attacks and power outages on Ukraine's energy infrastructure have affected the steel business, causing Ukraine's steel and iron ore mining industries to operate at 15%-20% capacity.
