UK goes to energy saving

The British government launched a mass communication campaign to encourage the public to use energy more efficiently and effectively due to the increase in energy prices.

UK goes to energy saving

In the country where inflation has reached its highest level in 41 years, the government has launched a mass media campaign called "Support for Households", which encourages the public to use energy consciously and efficiently.

As the first step of the campaign, an official website (helpforhouseholds.campaign.gov.uk) was put into use, which includes recommendations such as increasing the thermal insulation in houses, reducing the degrees of water and heating boilers, and closing the heater cores in unused areas of the houses.

On the website, it is stated that reducing the temperature setting of the heating boiler can save 100 pounds a year, closing unused honeycombs can save 70 pounds, and installing heat insulation on doors and windows can save 70 pounds a year.

While the British government has not yet made a statement about the total cost of the communication campaign, the British newspaper The Times reported that the cost of the campaign to the public was around £25 million.

Michael Gove, the British government's Secretary of State for Social Housing Projects and Planning, previously said, "What we will and must do is refer people to authoritative sources of advice on how to minimize their energy use." He used his expression.
