In the same period, Türkiye’s total exports increased by 3%, reaching 88.63 billion USD.
During this period, steel stood out as one of the leading export sectors to the EU. Türkiye’s steel exports to EU countries reached 2.23 billion USD, making steel one of the top export sectors to the bloc.
In EU exports by sector, the automotive industry ranked first with 10.284 billion USD, followed by chemicals with 4.621 billion USD, ready-made garments with 3.176 billion USD, iron and non-ferrous metals with 2.681 billion USD, electrical and electronics with 2.610 billion USD, steel with 2.23 billion USD, and machinery and parts with 1.342 billion USD. These sectors accounted for 30.49% of total exports to the EU.
By country, Germany remained Türkiye’s largest export market within the EU. Exports to Germany rose 7.2% to 6.769 billion USD, followed by Italy with 4.5 billion USD, Spain with 3.5 billion USD, France with 3.484 billion USD, and Romania with 2.443 billion USD.
Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) President Şekib Avdagiç stated that Türkiye is an important supply and production partner for the EU, emphasizing that interdependence in industrial and export chains is increasing. He also underlined that updating the Customs Union is critical for Türkiye–EU trade relations.
