Türkiye’s automotive exports near $3.6 billion in July

Türkiye’s automotive industry maintained its position as the country’s leading export sector in July, generating $3.586 billion in exports. The sector’s total exports reached $24.4 billion in the January–July period.

According to data from the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OİB), automotive exports amounted to $3.586 billion in July. Accounting for 14% of Türkiye’s total exports, the sector maintained its leading position.

The automotive industry’s total exports reached $24.4 billion in the first seven months of the year.

Supply Industry Generates $1.39 Billion in Exports

The supply industry, the largest product group within automotive exports, generated $1.39 billion in exports in July. Exports from this segment reached $9.473 billion in the January–July period, accounting for 38.8% of total automotive exports.

Passenger car exports amounted to $1.024 billion in July, while exports of motor vehicles for the transport of goods totaled $588 million. During the same period, exports of buses, minibuses and midibuses reached $262 million, while tractor exports totaled $197 million.

Exports of sectors registered through OİB and classified under the “other” category amounted to $125 million.

Germany Remains the Largest Market for Automotive Exports

Germany remained Türkiye’s largest automotive export market in July, with exports totaling $602 million. France followed with $411 million, while the UK ranked third with $400 million.

Automotive exports to European Union countries amounted to $2.537 billion in July, accounting for 71% of Türkiye’s total automotive exports.

In the January–July period, automotive exports to EU countries reached $18.119 billion, bringing the EU’s share of Türkiye’s total automotive exports during the first seven months to 74%.

Kemal Yazıcı, Chairman of the Board of the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OİB), said the sector had reached $24.4 billion in exports during the first seven months of the year. He noted that the industry continued to maintain its export performance despite the uneven trajectory between the EUR/TRY exchange rate and inflation, uncertainties in the global economy, rising cost pressures and intense competition.
