According to data released by the Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD)(Otomotiv Sanayii Derneği), total automotive production decrease 5% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 99,247 units in January 2026. During the same period, automobile production decrease 17% year on year to 55,504 units.
Commercial vehicle production recorded an increase 16% in the first month of the year. Production in the heavy commercial vehicle segment increase 47%, while light commercial vehicle production increase 14%.
The automotive industry’s capacity utilization rate was measured at 56% in January. Based on vehicle groups, capacity utilization was 57% for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, 44% for trucks, 63% for buses and midibuses, and 26% for tractors.
On the export side, a decrease in unit volumes drew attention. Total automotive exports decrease 17% year on year to 64,725 units in January. During this period, automobile exports decrease 28%, while the decrease in commercial vehicle exports remained limited to 1%.
