The steel production capacities of our country, which is the largest steel producer in Europe and the seventh largest steel producer in the world, have increased rapidly in recent years. Crude steel production reached a record level of 40.4 million tons in 2021.
However, the Ukraine crisis has affected the steel industry of our country this year. However, the industry is having a hard time with increasing costs and shrinking market and lack of demand.
The trade protection measures implemented by some Western countries, especially the USA, also seriously affected Turkey's steel exports. While it is hoped that export demands will rise again, it is being followed how long the demand will last. The increase in exports and high demand can give the sector a deep breath once again.
