Turkish steel and non-ferrous metals sectors strengthen position in the European market

Türkiye’s exports increased by 22.3% year-on-year in April, reaching USD 25.4 billion, while ferrous and non-ferrous metals along with the steel sector accounted for a total volume of USD 2.8 billion, representing 12.6% of total exports. Ferrous and non-ferrous metals exports increased by 26.1% to USD 1.4 billion, while steel exports increased by 10.6% to USD 1.4 billion.

Significant growth was also recorded in the Mediterranean Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters’ Association (ADMİB). The association’s ferrous and non-ferrous metals exports increased by 23.7% to USD 77 million, while steel exports surged by 60.7% to USD 234 million. The recovery in European demand and increased activity in nearby markets, particularly Ukraine, supported export growth.

In April, Germany ranked first in Türkiye’s steel exports, while strong increases were recorded in shipments to the United Kingdom, Romania, and Ukraine. In ADMİB’s exports, Ukraine took the leading position, followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Romania, and Morocco, which also showed notable growth.

ADMİB Chairman Rahmi İncetan stated that demand in Europe has started to recover and that the regional diversification strategy has yielded positive results. He added that the focus will continue on value-added production and new markets for the remainder of the year.
