A fire occurred at the facility of Formosa Ha Tinh Hung Nghiep Steel Corporation in Ha Tinh, Vietnam, on the morning of September 4.
According to information from the company, the incident began at approximately 08:16 following an equipment malfunction at No. 3 hot blast stove in the blast furnace workshop of blast furnace No. 1. Sparks were generated during the malfunction, and a fire broke out after grass near the equipment caught fire.
Fire completely extinguished at 08:30
Following the incident, the blast furnace workshop was immediately shut down. The fire was completely extinguished by company teams at 08:30 on the same day.
Heavy black smoke was generated at the facility during the fire. Workers in the area reportedly moved away from the incident site, while some employees used smoke masks.
No casualties reported
The company stated that there were no fatalities or injuries in the incident.
Formosa Ha Tinh has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the equipment malfunction.
