Turkish flat steel producers continued the rise in hot rolled sheet prices this week

Hot rolled coil prices continue to increase in Türkiye. While the spot market has been affected by this increase, mills have left the needle higher in order not to fall below $700/mt.

Turkish flat steel producers continued the rise in hot rolled sheet prices this week

Turkish hot rolled sheet producers increased their ex-factory prices as of December 11, 2023. Even though there are $5-10 discounts on prices today, we continue to show a strong attitude to continue the rise.

While domestic market ex-factory prices for February and March deliveries dated December 5 last week were around $690-720, this week the prices are traded at $710-740. Although different levels may vary depending on the factory and its location, it has been noted that the bottom figure has reached $700.

December 12, 2023 Türkiye hot rolled coil (HRC) ex-factory prices were seen as follows;

Black Sea Region Manufacturer $740 February delivery

Aegean Region Manufacturer $700 March delivery

Iskenderun Region Manufacturer $710 April delivery

Marmara Region Manufacturer $710 March delivery

While discounts of $5-10 were seen on the prices, it was heard that there were no sales or offers below the $700 level.

While ex-factory prices were increasing, the spot market did not remain indifferent to this. The trader, who could not achieve the sales potential he expected despite trying to increase prices for about a few weeks, tended to constantly break prices, but this week he took a more upright stance and got his prices accepted.

Hot rolled coil (HRC) spot market Türkiye average;

Aegean Region 740$

Marmara Region 730$

Iskenderun Region 720$

While the prices that are more accepted in the market are as above, there is a discount opportunity for tonnage up to -$10.
