The signing ceremony, held at THY Headquarters, was attended by THY Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker and TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe. Following their speeches, the parties signed the "7th Cooperation Protocol."
Speaking at the ceremony, Murat Şeker stated that Türkiye has achieved historic export records, noting that exports exceeded USD 273 billion in 2025, while exports in the first half of 2026 reached USD 136.1 billion, up 3.6% compared to the same period of the previous year. He said these figures indicate that Türkiye is on track to achieve a new export record, adding that export growth has made significant contributions to industry and employment.
Şeker said they are proud that THY has contributed to this success, recalling that the company once again became the champion of service exports by generating more than USD 24 billion in foreign currency revenue in 2025. He emphasized that THY will continue to support Türkiye's values and exports together with all its stakeholders, from passengers to business partners.
Turkish Cargo aims to double its capacity
Şeker stated that Turkish Cargo has demonstrated strong growth performance in recent years, adding that the company turned the pandemic period into an opportunity through proper planning and became one of the fastest-growing air cargo brands in the international market. He noted that Turkish Cargo's share of the global air cargo market has reached 6% and said that, following the completion of all phases of the Smartist Cargo Facility at Istanbul Airport, the company aims to double the volume of cargo transported within the next two years.
Şeker said the increase in capacity will create significant opportunities for exporters, adding that the new protocol is a continuation of the cooperation that began in 2020.
Average 34% discount to 49 destinations
Under the new agreement, Turkish Cargo will transport products manufactured across all regions of Anatolia to 49 destinations in 30 countries at average discounted rates of 34%.
The protocol covers not only general cargo but also perishable goods, pharmaceutical products, and products requiring special transportation such as fish, meat, fruit, and vegetables.
Şeker stated that, thanks to the cooperation protocols signed previously, exports and revenues increased by up to 50%, with total exports exceeding USD 11 billion under these agreements. He said the new agreement will make significant contributions to exporters, THY, and the Turkish economy.
Şeker also noted that THY contributes to the country's economy not only through passenger transportation but also through all of its subsidiaries, adding that the company will continue working toward Türkiye's export target of USD 375 billion for 2028.
"Logistics is an integral part of exports"
TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe stated that success in exports today depends not only on producing high-quality goods but also on delivering products to the right market at the right time.
Noting that customers now expect speed, reliability, and uninterrupted supply, Gültepe said logistics has become not merely a complement to production but an integral part of exports.
He stated that Türkiye's greatest strength in this field is THY, adding that Turkish Cargo makes a strategic contribution to exports by delivering Turkish exporters' products to global markets.
Gültepe said that TİM has been working in close cooperation with THY for many years and that the advantages offered to exporters have been further enhanced under the new protocol. In this context, he noted that the number of countries covered by the agreement has increased from 25 to 30, while the number of destinations has risen from 37 to 49.
