The US Department of Labor has released the critically important non-farm payroll data for the US. According to the data, employment in non-agricultural sectors increased by 236,000 people in March.
The non-farm payroll data showed a lower-than-expected increase, with the market anticipating an increase of 239,000 people during this period.
The sectors with the highest employment growth in March were entertainment and accommodation, government, professional business services, and healthcare.
The non-farm payroll data for January and February were also revised. In January, the increase in non-farm payroll employment was revised down from 504,000 to 472,000, while the increase in February was revised up from 311,000 to 326,000.
