The price of imported heavy scrap 20-80 had a downward trend in Turkish market last week and returned from $377 to $375 per ton of CFR.
The scrap collection process is very slow and the transportation fee is very high, so the scrap sellers cannot reduce the prices, but on the other hand, the Turkish steelmakers do not have enough demand to raise the prices. As a result, the market outlook is uncertain for the short term. Japan's Class 2 heavy export scrap dropped from $346 last week to $339 per ton fob. The average price of heavy imported scrap in East Asia also decreased by 2 dollars and was recorded at 385 dollars per ton of CFR.
