Ternium to build a new electric arc furnace (EAF) slab plant in Esquería

Ternium, a prominent steel manufacturing company in Latin America, has announced plans to construct a new electric arc furnace (EAF) slab mill in Pesquería, located in the northern Mexican state of Nuevo León. The new mill, which will be integrated into Ternium's existing hot rolling facility, is projected to have an annual capacity of 2.6 million tons. The current capacity of the hot rolling mill stands at 4.4 million tons per year.

Construction of the new facility is slated to commence in December, with operations expected to commence in the first half of 2026.

In February, Ternium initially revealed this project as part of its strategy to enhance its steel production capabilities in Mexico in compliance with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), set to be implemented in 2027. The aim is to meet the increased demand for steel resulting from the agreement.
