The company shared its capacity expansion plan with the public during its 119th Annual General Meeting. According to the roadmap announced, Tata Steel will create an additional steel production capacity of 4.8 million mt at Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd. (NINL), one of its subsidiaries, and 2.5 million mt at the Tata Steel Meramandali (TSM) plant.
The company also plans to build a new 6 million mt per year greenfield steel plant in the state of Maharashtra.
Capacity to be increased for value added steel products as well
In addition to crude steel production, Tata Steel aims to significantly increase its capacity for value-added steel products.
Within this scope, the company will increase its steel pipe production capacity from 1.7 million mt to 4 million mt, its wire rod capacity from 600,000 mt to 1 million mt, and its tinplate production capacity from 400,000 mt to 1 million mt.
In addition, Tata Steel plans to commission a new Hot Rolled Pickling and Galvanizing Line (HRPGL) complex with an annual capacity of 700,000 mt.
