One of the pioneers of the German automotive industry, GEDIA, which is a supplier to 15 international automobile manufacturing companies with annual sales of over 760 million Euros, has signed an agreement with Tata Steel.
With the support of Ijmuiden, it is reported that Tata Steel will supply GEDIA with Zeremis Carbon Lite steel, which reduces carbon by up to 90%, and that a transition to green steel can be made with the support of Ijmuiden. Zeremis Carbon Lite steel is verified and certified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), which ensures decarbonization of the supply chain and is directly based on CO2 reduction projects.
It was also reported that the IJmuiden Works, located on the North Sea coast of the Netherlands, which has been producing oxygenated steel for a considerable period of time, will transition to and produce green steel created by Zeremis, reducing its carbon footprint by up to 90%.
It is expected that this agreement signed by Tata Steel and GEDIA will positively influence the automotive industry in Europe towards the production and use of low-emission steel and increase demand.
