Taiwan’s stainless steel scrap imports hit new high in Jun

According to statistics, in June 2023, Taiwan stainless steel scrap imports increased by 20 percent on a monthly basis and reached 25,500 tons, breaking this year's record. Looking at exports, it was 4,200 in June 2023, down 39 percent month-on-month. In June, when the export price reached the lowest level in two years, both import and export prices fell.

In the first six months of 2023, Taiwan's stainless steel scrap imports reached approximately 137,500 tons, up 190 percent year on year. While imports increased, exports decreased by 30 percent on an annual basis to 30,000 tons.
