Steel production in Spain decreased by 5.2% in January-August

Steel production in Spain in August this year was 864,000 tonnes, up 4.5% m-o-m and 27.6% y-o-y, according to UNESID, the Spanish steelmakers' association. In the January-August period this year, steel production in the country stood at 7.57 million tonnes, compared to 7.97 million tonnes recorded in the same period last year.

The Spanish steel industry recycled 626,000 tonnes of scrap into new steel products this month, up 5.9% on July and 49.7% y-o-y. In the first eight months of this year, the sector processed 6.21 million tonnes of scrap.
