Steel pipe prices remain stable in China

Despite the limited increases and decreases in raw material prices, steel pipe prices in China follow a stable course. Last week, ex-factory prices of major pipe mills in Northern China remained stable.

Steel pipe prices remain stable in China

In mainstream pipe factories, the current ex-factory price of 4-inch welded pipes is about 3,800 yuan (525 USD), while the ex-factory price of 4-inch galvanized pipes is recorded at about 4,470 yuan (617 USD). Affected by the weakening in raw material prices and rainy weather conditions, the operations of pipe factories remained at a moderate level.

In the Xiongan Market, prices of welded and galvanized pipes remained generally stable last week. Towards the end of the month, traders in the market started buying a reasonable amount. However, average daily trading volume slowed slightly in April. Since the market has been reduced to three main brands available, steel traders are very cautious in their operations and stocks remain low at all times.

Considering the market situation before and after May 1, there are limited increases and decreases in raw material prices, and steel traders have little intention of adjusting. In the short term, steel pipe prices in China are expected to remain stable.
