With the fall in prices in the Italian market, demand has also stagnated in the last 20 days. On top of that, due to the Easter holiday; factories, service centers and rolling mills are expecting a negative period in April when they will face low consumption again.
In Italy, stainless CRC values for March are around €2,900-3,000/tonne. For stainless HRC, prices are around €2,560-2,580/ton. According to market sources, prices will be updated in April with a decrease of €50/tonne.
Although HRC and CRC prices are stable for now, they are expected to be met with lower values in April. Market sentiments suggest that even if coils fall by €50 ($53) per ton, the market will remain stagnant.
Despite this situation, service centers use the sheets in their stocks or purchase sheets one after the other. The trade stalemate persists as sheet steel consumption has dropped significantly on top of flat steel and pipe sales, which have been stable since the beginning of the year.
