Spain steel production fell in October

According to the data released...

Spain steel production fell in October

Looking at the data; It is seen that steel production in Spain in January-October 2022 was 9,915 million tons, which is 18.5% less than the same period of 2021. In October 2022, there was a 9.6% decrease compared to September of the same year and production decreased to 913 thousand tons. When we look at the European Union countries, it is noteworthy that there is a decrease again. It is seen in the data that steel production in European countries in January-October 2022 decreased by 9.2% compared to the previous year and decreased to 117.1 million tons.

Considering the factors that cause European steel producers to reduce or stop production, the effect of the increase in energy costs comes to the fore. The availability of lower-priced imported steel products in the European market is another factor that causes the demand to drop. Trying to take precautions against the energy crisis, the Spanish government stated that it will provide the necessary amount of energy resources for the continuity of production in the steel industry.
