Security concerns around the world are increasing in the Red Sea, especially after attacks on commercial ships by the Houthis in Yemen. World-famous companies announced that they suspended flights.

Giant shipping companies such as the Italian-Swiss partnership Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), Denmark-based Maersk, German Hapag-Lloyd and French CMA CGM announced that they have suspended their Red Sea voyages due to the deterioration of the security situation in the region.

Finally, the British energy company bp announced that it had temporarily stopped all tanker traffic in the Red Sea after the Houthis targeted merchant ships.

In its statement, the company stated, "In light of the deteriorating security situation for shipping in the Red Sea, BP has decided to temporarily suspend all tanker transits. We will constantly review this precautionary pause depending on developments in the region."
