SIJ Group’s crude steel production decreased by 5.2%.

SIJ Group, Slovenia’s largest steel producer, recorded a 5.2% year-on-year decline in crude steel production in 2025. It was stated that the decline in production was driven by the economic slowdown in Germany, which is the company’s main export market.

SIJ Group’s crude steel production decreased by 5.2%.

SIJ Group has a total annual crude steel production capacity of 726,000 tons, with 636,000 tons produced at its SIJ Acroni facility and 90,000 tons at its SIJ Metal Ravne facility. The company’s downstream rolling capacity is reported to remain limited at approximately 370,000–400,000 tons per year.

According to financial results, the group generated total revenues of 1 billion EUR in 2025, maintaining a level similar to the previous year. However, a significant decline was recorded in operational profitability. EBITDA fell to 51 million EUR, compared with 73.3 million EUR in 2023. Net loss widened to 15.4 million EUR.

These results highlight the pressure of the slowdown in the European industrial sector, particularly on export-dependent steel producers.
