Signatures for Turkey's first hydrogen valley

While TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) continues its search for solutions to climate change in various ways, signatures have been put for two very important projects within the scope of these efforts.

As Turkey, like the rest of the world, turns to hydrogen, the country's first hydrogen valley and the first domestically produced largest green hydrogen plant will be established. In this context, the "HYSouthMarmara Hydrogen Valley Project and South Marmara Hydrogen Coast Platform Guided Project Signing Ceremony" was held at the DHMI Former Aviation Academy Building located in the Atatürk Airport area.

Minister of Industry and Technology, Varank, stated that they have opened a new page in hydrogen production with the Hydrogen Valley Project, which will last for 5 years, and said that important institutions and organizations of Turkey coordinated by the South Marmara Development Agency are involved in this project.

Varank, who stated that the budget of this project, which will support the development of the hydrogen economy, is 36.8 million euros, provided the following information:

"We have also brought to our country the largest grant from Europe, which is 7.5 million euros in a single application, within the scope of the project. When the project is completed, the use of fossil fuels in the industry will decrease. A part of the industry, even if it is small-scale, will be decarbonized. The South Marmara Region already provides 13% of Turkey's total electricity production. It is the number one region in our country with a renewable energy installed capacity approaching 3 GW. We hope to nurture the hydrogen economy in the region with this project."
